Keith Barrett, Esq.
Founding Attorney
Keith Barrett is the Managing Partner at Barrett & Everhart, focusing his practice on real estate matters following an initial career in litigation. He is the Founder and President of Vesta Settlements, a premier title and settlement company serving the DMV region. A respected speaker and educator in the real estate industry, Keith frequently provides transactional guidance and legal insights.
He is an active member of the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (“NVAR”) Attorney Roundtable, a former member of the NVAR Forms Committee, and serves on the Board of Loudoun Habitat for Humanity. Licensed to practice in Virginia, D.C., New York, and Connecticut, Keith earned his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law.

Sean A. Everhart, partner at Barrett & Everhart, is a seasoned real estate attorney specializing in residential and commercial transactions. Since 2002, he has facilitated thousands of closings and managed settlement and title agency operations. A trusted advisor to DMV-area agents with deep expertise in Virginia and West Virginia real estate law, Sean also develops DPOR-approved courses and teaches for local realtor associations. Sean is admitted in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia. He earned his law degree from the University of Richmond’s T.C. Williams School of Law.
Sonia Downard, Esq.

Sonia R. Downard is an experienced real estate attorney specializing in residential transactions. She has conducted thousands of real estate closings and managed settlement operations since 2002. Sonia often teaches DPOR-approved courses for local realtor associations. She is admitted in Virginia and earned her law degree from the George Mason University School of Law.
John A. Maghamez, Esq.

John Maghamez is Legal Counsel at Barrett & Everhart and manages the firm’s Richmond, Virginia branch. With over a decade of experience in real estate, he has led multiple title companies and conducted thousands of closings. John has extensive experience drafting real estate documents, including deeds, trusts, promissory notes, and co-ownership agreements. He also defended title insurance claims as local counsel for First American Title Insurance Company.
A dedicated educator, he regularly teaches realtors in Richmond on industry trends. He is licensed in Virginia and a member of the Virginia and Richmond Bar Associations. John earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, where he played football, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Liberty University School of Law.
